Ah yes, I remember this page vividly. This was when I realized that there is such a thing as TOO dark. The images of the lovely young wife slitting her throat and her face coming off weren’t from my first draft. My first draft had her slitting her own throat with a butcher’s knife, then sliding her fingers under the skin of her neck to reach up under her face, fingers poking through the eye holes, and removing her face from her skull to reveal the twisted evil beneath.
I received a phone call shortly after, suggesting I tone it down a bit and then seek therapy immediately.

I’m with Church - I’d love to see the original. This is plenty creepy, though - the big smile … there’s always a big smile … *shivers*
